The English ABaCaDa Phonetics - Effective Reading Guide for Kids

Practice Reading the English Phonetics

After introducing the complete phonetics in both English and Tagalog, I separated these phonetics into five parts vowel per vowel.

Here's the English phonetics with the vowel letters Aa Ee Ii Oo Uu in both capital and small letters.

This reading approach is very effective based on my experience.

Don't have your kids read the complete phonetics over and over because there's a tendency that they will forget them after few minutes.

My advice is to introduce phonetics without requiring them to memorize all of it.

Instead, teach them to read the phonetics repeatedly, vowel per vowel.

Listed below are the twenty-one (21) consonant letters of the English alphabet, Bb Cc Dd Ff Gg Hh Jj Kk Ll Mm Nn Pp Qq Rr Ss Tt Vv Ww Xx Yy Zz, and the five (5) vowel letters Aa Ee Ii Oo Uu.

However, the consonant letter Qq has two (2) phonetic examples.

For the reason that most of the English words that start with the consonant letter Qq, are followed by the vowel letter Uu.

If the consonant letter Qq is followed by the vowel letter Aa, the pronunciation is "ka". If it is followed by the vowel letters Uu and Aa, the pronunciation is "kwa".)

If the consonant letter Qq is followed by the vowel letter Ee, the pronunciation is "ke". If it is followed by the vowel letters Uu and Ee, the pronunciation is "kwe".)

If the consonant letter Qq is followed by the vowel letter Ii, the pronunciation is "ki". If it is followed by the vowel letters Uu and Ii, the pronunciation is "kwi".)

If the consonant letter Qq is followed by the vowel letter Oo, the pronunciation is "ko". If it is followed by the vowel letters Uu and Oo, the pronunciation is "kow".)

If the consonant letter Qq is followed by the vowel letter Uu only, the pronunciation is "ku".
