I Can Read! How to Read the Syllable Words with the Small Vowel Letter e - Effective Reading Guide for Kids

I Can Read!

Can you read now the words with the vowel letters "E" and "A" in big letters?

Now let's practice more and don't stop reading.

These are the syllable words with the small vowel letter e.

This reading step is to pronounce the words syllable by syllable, including the vowel letter a.

There are syllable words with the vowel letter a to make sure that the kids haven't forgotten to read these words.

The sample words are a combination of English and Tagalog.

Like the syllable words that start with the vowel letter a, there are made-up words with no meaning, and some words have meaning in different languages.

This way, the children will be more familiar with reading, especially in English letters not commonly used in the Filipino language.

This step is for them not to have difficulty reading in some of the English words.

Here are the words starting with the small letters e, b, c, d, f, g, h, j, k, l, m, n, o, p, q, r, s, t, v, w, x, y and z.

Take Note:

IThe first sample word in consonant letter d is de-ba-te. It is a Tagalog word, and is pronounced syllable by syllable.

II. The consonant letter 'g' has two (2) sets of examples. The hard 'g' and the soft 'g' sounds.

In English, a hard 'g' is pronounced as in get, gey, egg, leg, and beg, while the soft 'g' is pronounced 'j' as in gem, gel, germ, gest, and gent.

In Tagalog, the letter 'g' has two sounds. The first sound is similar to the hard 'g' in English, and the second sound is pronounced as 'h'.

The words that start with the letter 'g' and pronounced as 'h' are called loanwords from Spanish.

This is because of the influence of the Spanish language in Tagalog.

But because the spelling has changed to the letter 'h', I didn't include these Tagalog words in the sample below.

Because our main focus is the pronunciation of the hard and soft g.

How would I know if it is a hard 'g' or a soft 'g'?

I did some research and this is the general rule:

If the letter g is followed by the letters "e", "i", and "y", it is a soft g. Otherwise, it is a hard g.

However, this rule doesn't always apply as there are too many exceptions in the English language.

The first example for the letter g is a hard g, and the second example is a soft g pronounced as "j".
